Julietta Boscolo aims to tell stories that reveal the original in the everyday. And inspire audiences to discover something new about the world and themselves.
Julietta has recently been invited to attend a tailor-made Directors Lab at Binger Filmlab in Amsterdam.
She graduated with a Masters in Film and Television Narrative from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2011. The same year, Julietta was one of only 35 filmmakers worldwide (and the only Australian) to be invited to attend the inaugural Edinburgh International Film Festival’s Talent Lab. In November 2011, Julietta and producer Matt Reeder, were one of six teams to receive a $30 000 grant from Screen NSW’s Emerging Filmmakers Fund for SAM’S GOLD. Julietta was one of three nominees for an If Award for Rising Talent and her short film script ACOUSTIC was selected as a finalist in the Vegas Cine Fest Screenwriting Competition and the FirstGlance Screenplay Competition in Philadelphia. Her feature film script, CATCHING SIGHT was short listed for Screen Australia’s Springboard Initiative.
Julietta’s short films have screened in numerous festivals worldwide including Adelaide International Film Festival, Academy Awards accredited Flickerfest International Film Festival, St Louis Film Festival and LA Shortsfest. She has also been a finalist in the TAFE NSW Art and Design Awards. In addition, Julietta received a post production grant to complete her short THE PRESENT. SAFE, Julietta’s VCA Masters film, was nominated for Most Daring and Innovative Production at the VCA Awards and an ATOM Award.
In a previous incarnation, Julietta worked professionally in the film industry primarily as a Director’s Assistant and a Producer’s Assistant. She has worked with filmmakers such as Ray Lawrence (director LANTANA, BLISS), Lynda House (producer MURIEL’S WEDDING, PROOF), Liz Watts (producer ANIMAL KINGDOM, WALKING ON WATER), Vincent Sheehan (producer LITTLE FISH, THE HUNTER), and Paul Goldman (director SUBURBAN MAYHEM, AUSTRALIAN RULES), who was also Directing Mentor on Julietta’s film SAM’S GOLD. She has also worked in post production (in both Australia and London) on productions including HAPPY FEET and with editors such as Alexandre De Franceschi (editor TOP OF THE LAKE, BRIGHT STAR, THE PAINTED VEIL) and Karl Sodersten (editor LANTANA, JINDABYNE).
Julietta is currently developing several feature film projects and seeking new opportunities to tell original stories.
