Taking this Baby to LA!

Julietta was honoured to have Let’s See How Fast This Baby Will Go selected as one of a handful of films to screen in a special Australians in Film event in LA. Afterwards Julietta took part in a Q&A hosted by the amazing Charmaine Bingwa and spoke openly about growing up in poverty and how this has affected her work and her perspective on the world.

Full house at Palm Springs!

Julietta was in Palm Springs for the North American premiere of Let’s See How Fast This Baby Will Go! It was pretty special as it was the first time that Julietta, Gloria Harrison (whose true short story the film is based on) and Liv Hewson (who starred in the film and gave a powerful performance) had watched the film together. It was also wonderful seeing it in a packed cinema with a very responsive audience! Afterwards, Julietta, Gloria and Liv took part in a Q&A with the other filmmakers in attendance.

Real life meets fiction (makers) at Palm Springs!

Julietta met up with Gloria Harrison, the author of the original This American Life story Let’s See How Fast This Baby Will Go (and liver of the actual events!) which the film is based on, along with actor Liv Hewson, at Palm Springs Shortfest! It was the first time both Julietta and Liv had met Gloria in person and it was really lovely for all of them to hang out at last.

Here is a lil’ interview they did at the fest:

This Baby is heading home!

Let's See How Fast This Baby Will Go will have its international premiere at Palm Springs International Shortfest! It's pretty appropriate that for it's first screening in the States, Gloria Harrison's universal story will play in a program with the same name as the episode in which Julietta first heard the story on This American Life. Julietta will attend the screening, supported by CreateNSW, and will be joined by Gloria herself as well as star Liv Hewson (Top of the Lake/ Santa Clarita Diet).

A Brilliant Career (Conference!)

Julietta has been selected to attend the Natalie Miller Fellowship Brilliant Careers Leadership Conference in Melbourne. The organisers received an overwhelming response to applications, with over 400 expressions of interest received. Julietta looks forward to attending in February!

Amazing MIFF!

Julietta has just returned from the Accelerator program at Melbourne International Film Festival! Thanks to the Australian Directors Guild for the selection as part of Screen Australia's Gender Careers initiative!

Our brilliant story shines!

Out of a record-breaking 452 applications, Julietta’s project Sunshine (with producer Eva Di Blasio and writer Lou Sanz) was one of 45 'Brilliant Stories' to be funded through Screen Australia’s Gender Matters initiative.

Victims of Crime Awareness Week

Earlier this year Julietta worked with the Department of Justice in Melbourne to direct a series of short films, sharing the experiences of people who had had someone in their family murdered.

The films have just been released to coincide with Victims of Crime Awareness Week in Victoria.
